The district recognizes that a high water bill resulting from an
accidental, unpreventable water release can present financial
hardship to a customer. While most water releases are
preventable, there are certain circumstances when an accidental
water release cannot be reasonably prevented. The intent of
this policy is to establish a one-time adjustment per year for up to
1/2 of the excess water bill above normal consumption due to an
accidental water release.
The determination of the amount of the adjustment is as follows:
The customer's average water usage is subtracted from the leak
amount. This total is divided by two and this is the amount
that the customer is responsible for paying. (See the
following example)
